A static password can be shared, leaked, overheard, guessed, or reused. It also never changes, so once it's compromised you may not know. SecureRing uses rotating verification signals that change automatically — there's nothing to memorize, and the signals are designed so an observed one can't simply be replayed later.
For a suspicious call on your regular phone line, that's still the right move — nothing here replaces it. But it has a weakness scammers build their entire script around: they engineer urgency to stop you from hanging up (“I’m in jail, I need bail now — don’t hang up on me”). SecureRing takes a different approach for the people you'd check with most: calls inside your circle are verified while you're on them, with the rotating safe word right on the call screen — so there's no hang-up step for a scammer to exploit. For any call that comes in outside the app, the old advice still applies.
SecureRing works best when your circle is on it — that's true. But it's designed to lower that friction: only one person needs Premium, and everyone else can receive verified calls for free. Practice scenarios, scam-aware training, and your trusted circle are free forever, so the app is useful even before your family joins. And bringing someone in is a QR code or invite link, not a setup process.
No — and we want to be clear about that. You still open the app and place the call through it. What SecureRing removes is the memory burden: the safe word is shown on the call screen and rotates automatically, so you don't have to recall it under stress or worry it was leaked. It's a manual step, made reliable — not a hands-off guarantee.
Your verification keys are generated on your device and SecureRing never has a copy. On iOS, your signing key may sync to your iCloud Keychain for backup, so anyone who gains access to your cloud account could recover it — use a strong, unique password and 2FA on that account. If your phone is lost or stolen, you (or another circle member) can remove that device's membership from the circle so it can no longer verify or place calls. If your cloud account may be compromised, treat any ‘verified’ call from that device with caution and verify another way.
No. SecureRing verifies identity without recording conversations. Audio and video are carried by our calling provider (Twilio) in transit only — SecureRing itself never stores call audio or video content. See our privacy policy.
Yes — and it targets families specifically. The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center reports billions in losses every year from imposter scams, the category that includes cloned-voice “family emergency” calls, and the FTC has issued specific alerts about AI voice cloning. It's not everywhere — but it's a rising, well-documented threat that aims at the people least prepared for it: your parents and grandparents.
SecureRing is designed to make impersonation significantly harder, not impossible. A scammer who only has a cloned voice can't produce the rotating safe word over a normal phone line or create a valid signature without access to a trusted member's verification key. Important limit: if a scammer is already inside your circle — or has a member's device or cloud account — they can see the safe word on the call screen and the key is present, so a verified call does NOT by itself prove the person on screen is real. A planned biometric check before placing and accepting calls is the intended defense for that case. No system is unbreakable, and SecureRing is not a guarantee — always use your judgment and verify another way if anything feels off.

Receiving calls is free. Any member of a Premium circle can take a verified call — you do not need your own subscription to receive one. Only placing a call requires Premium, and one Premium subscription covers everyone in your circle, so the people you call most often never have to pay just to answer.

Yes — verification is mutual. Both people need SecureRing, to be members of the same circle, and to be online for the live call. That's the whole point: verification happens inside your trusted circle, not with strangers.
No. SecureRing is a supplemental safety aid, not an emergency-response service and not a guarantee that any call is safe. In a real emergency, contact authorities (911 or your local equivalent) directly. See our Terms.
